Stearns worked in close collaboration with the design team for this 31,000 square-foot design/build project for the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center located in Twentynine Palms, CA. Stearns furnished and installed, detailed and designed the structural steel and miscellaneous steel package. Stearns further provided fabrication and a fast-track steel construction schedule which brought the project to completion on-time and within budget. The dining facility was designed to serve 2,000 to 2,200 Marines over a 2 - 2.5 hour meal period 3 times per day. A separate carryout space to handle an additional 500 Marines has been provided with its own distinct entrance and exit. This project received the National Design-Build Excellence award for public sector building by Design-Build Institute of America. The Enlisted Dining Facility project is exemplary of performance-based design-build, noteworthy processes. | ||
